The Benefits Of Using Solicitors In Sexual Harassment Cases

July 23rd, 2018

Some people will be unfortunate enough to experience – or see – problems develop in the workplace. There are those who will choose to report it, while in other cases it might prolong against a certain individual or they might not know the best way to tackle it. If you are ever faced with harassment, solicitors should be your immediate point of contact.

You might find some solace in speaking to a family member or friend about it – and rightfully so. However, seeking out professional advice is the best strategy to deal with issues as and when they happen. You might think that the legal route will cause problems in your office, but it will do the exact opposite: it will help you fight back.

Prospect conducted a survey that found a third of women have been on the receiving end of inappropriate behaviour. The research also identified that young women were the highest number to experience unwanted sexual advances at 62 per cent.

Mike Clancy, general secretary at Prospect, commented: “This survey was created so that we were able to engage with our members on unacceptable behaviours that are taking place across the UK’s workplaces.”

It is important to remember that some people might not choose to report it. In fact, that could lead to harassment turning into bullying or stalking. Even with the rise of the so-called ‘lad culture,’ there is a fine line that can easily be crossed and young women should not allow themselves to be subjected to something that some portions of society might deem as normal.

No matter what the circumstances are, you could find these issues taking a toll on the state of your health or even affecting you outside your place of work. Whether you have seen it or been on the receiving end of it, the most pragmatic solution is to contact a professional and receive advice on how to handle it best.
