Career history

• After studying for his degree in Archaeology and Anthropology at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, Iain began his first career as an Army officer in The Gordon Highlanders.

• Iain then qualified as a solicitor in 1996. Since then, apart from a year as Head of UK Business Development in the City for Capita Trust Company, he has specialised as a Private Client lawyer for over 20 years. Iain has worked in a number of high profile firms in the Home Counties and Thames Valley, including BP Collins, Henmans and Parrott and Coales, before joining Lennons to head up and develop our Wills, Probate and Life Planning Department.

• Iain specialises in private client law, mainly estate planning – including inheritance tax planning, wills and trusts; estate administration; advising on later life planning, including powers of attorney and asset protection; and court of protection matters.

• Iain also specialises in business development and developing relationships with both other professionals – with the aim of providing a wide level of advice to clients – and other parties, including charities, hospices and care homes.

Outside of work

During my spare time, I enjoy being “home alone” with my wife now that our 4 children have all moved on to work, their own homes, travelling and university! I enjoy travelling, hill walking, reading, returning to the gym and working with charities.  This has varied from being a trustee of our local hospice, doing a sky dive for Remember a Charity and giving talks to, and writing articles for, both members and supporters of various charities.
